Mercedes-Benz Trucks is displaying a fire-ready Atego 4x4 at the AFAC26 exhibition that starts today (Note 18/8/26) at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Atego 4x4 features a proven off-road chassis and powertrain featuring low-range for challenging conditions. Operating as a two-wheel drive in regular driving, the special Atego can switch into 4x4 at the touch of a button on the dashboard. It uses a 300hp 7.7-litre six-cylinder OM936 diesel linked to the easy-to-use six-speed Allison 3000 P torque convertor style automatic transmission. The model on display is a crew cab, which means it features seating for six people. With a Gross Combination Mass (GVM) of 16-tonnes, the Atego 4x4 would be expected to carry between 4000kg and 5000kg of water onboard, depending on the body specification.
With the Atego 4x4, and the legendary Unimog, Mercedes-Benz offers fire services and emergency response line-up with extreme capability and proven robustness.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Vice President Sales, Marketing and Operations, Andrew Assimo, says the Mercedes-Benz Trucks off-road stable is well suited to support Australian fire and emergency response agencies.

The AFAC26 event runs at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 18 to 21.
